According to its constitution, the Board of the Control of Public Meetings (initially called the Board of Administration) was created in order to efficiently coordinate programs and public events on the Augustana campus. The board consisted of President Andreen as well as four elected faculty members. Campus groups that planned public events such as Lyceum as well as the Boards of Control of Athletics or Literary Groups, had to answer to the overseeing Board of the Control of Public Meetings.
The Board Meetings series (1916-1925 and undated) consists of an undated draft of the Board's constitution as well as a bound book of meeting minutes. The minutes note the board members' responses to various clubs' proposals to host public events.
The Correspondence series (1916-1927) contains petitions from numerous student organizations to the board asking permission to hold their public events.
