Administrative/Biographical History
The United Swedish Radio Service was organized in 1933 to conduct and maintain a religious radio broadcast in the Swedish language each Sunday morning for the Chicago area. It was a non‑profit organization consisting of five persons appointed to represent the five major Swedish‑American denominations in America: the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran, the Evangelical Mission Covenant, the Evangelical Free, the Swedish Methodist, and the Baptist General Conference. The cost of maintaining the radio broadcast was covered by voluntary contributions from individual congregations and listeners. The United Swedish Radio Service was discontinued in December, 1962.
