Title: The American Sons and Daughters of Sweden Records, 1924-1938

The American Sons and Daughters were originally organized in 1924 under the name "The American Sons of Sweden". They were a chapter of the American Daughters of Sweden.
The purpose of this organization was "to preserve and make known the history of the Swedes in America through a) the erection of monuments commemorating achievements of Swedish‑American men and women, b) publishing, or aiding to publish, historical materials which throw light on Swedish‑American history, c) collecting and preserving documents, books, and other records concerning Swedes in America, d) taking and preserving, in the John Morton Memorial Building [Philadelphia], motion pictures of prominent citizens of Swedish descent and of special events in Swedish‑American history ‑ copies of which would be loaned to chapters of the Association for special events." This organization was Chapter One of the national organization, American Daughters of Sweden.
