Fellows, George Emory (1858-1942) | Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI)

Name: Fellows, George Emory (1858-1942)

Historical Note: Millikin University president from July 1, 1913- June 30, 1915, Dr. Fellows was born in Beaver Dam Wisconsin in 1858. He was previously president of the University of Maine from 1902-1910. During his administration, the University tried offering short courses in agriculture, but these did not last long as enrollments were low and the cost of the program high. His relationship with the University’s Board of Managers was not always smooth, though he seems to have had support from the University faculty and students. Dr. Fellows submitted his resignation on May 8, 1915 (accepted by the board effective June 30th) to take a position at the University of Utah from 1915-1935. He died in 1942.
